Catching up...

Time is moving far too quickly around here... Weekend already over? August (almost) done? Oh my... My best friend's going to the chappel this week and there's so much left to prep for the event. I just tried to put the finishing touches to their surprise "Wedding Mag" while her sister is about to tighten our dresses (LOL... we went shopping together and returned home with a bright blackberry colored satin dress) while the Mr & Mrs-to-be set up the garden tents with a group of magic helpers... you get the impression!

Anyways, I missed my scrappy space so much and N-E-E-D-E-D to make a card for keeping my sanity ;-) I headed over to A Passion for Papertrey to have a look around and to read about their current challenge... Little did I know! I was sad to hear, that Steph stepped down from blogging over there. Luckily Kate, her former "Partner in Crime", decided to continue this wonderful blog together with Aimes :-) Yippeah! As I couldn't participate in the last few challenges, I made two little 3x3 cards - the first one for challenge #11 ("Thank you" themed)...

and both of them with challenge #12 (Clean and Simple) in mind.

I hope they count to clean and simple style!? At least, I forbade myself to use my beloved tea dye duo and distressing tools ;-)

The thank you card goes straight to Stefanie (my BF's sister) for all her sewing work on the dress! However, it's also kind of a virtual card for Mrs Lawnfawn alias the sweet and talented Kelly Marie for passing me on "The Karma Award":

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their award."

What a nice cheer up! :-) You can guess it,... I'm on the run! So instead of naming eight person in particular I'll pass this award on to the first eight people to comment on here - I think, commenting bloggers are not only blessed with good karma they also share it with others :-D So, while I'll be away again for a few days, I really hope you go visit these lovely people and so will I when the festivities are over. Promise!

2S4Y Kazan's Sketch #33

I'm somewhat in a hurry while typing up this post. This Saturday, we're going to have the bachelorette party of my BFF and we're headed to Munich... by train... a slow, sloooow train to save on some money and also to have more fun - people in express trains most often don't want to be disturbed by a loud crowd, I think (a bit understandable), and don't react so very cool... However, while I'm a way, I want to share a quick card based on Kazan Clark's sketch #33.

Like so often with photographing glimmer, you can't really see my first attemped at using Tattered Angels glimmer mist. It's all over the purpelish layer... wait... it IS the purpelish, super glimmery layer because before it was just plain white cardstock ;-)

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed today's card and have a fantastic weekend!!

Paper: brown and white cardstock from stash, PTI spring moss, American Crafts Lucy Hootski

CPS Sketch #129

Happy Monday, hope you had a wonderful and sunny weekend! It's really hot over hear and I think it's okay to have a teeny tiny bit of ice cream during the typing process :-)

I have another birthday card to share today. This time, I was inspired by another great CPS sketch - you can see the sketch over at their blog.

The patterned paper was given to me by one of my office mates. She wanted me to make a birthday card with it, but all I could think of was "baby card and colors" which is actually the intended theme of that paper pad... Well, I put the paper aside and started with stamping the sentiment on twill tape. Then, I decided not to put an additional stripe of ribbon over the lenght of the card but to stamp a flourish onto the patterned paper. A little machine sewing with a matching thread color was the perfect finish. Well, I think: Mission accomplished - the flower and flourish give the baby themed patterned paper a bit of a different look. Me likey :-)

Stamps: PTI Fancy Flourishes, PTI Mod Squad
Ink: PTI Plum Pudding, Colorbox Chalk Ink alabaster,
Paper: PTI kraft and Bitty Baby Blessings patterned paper

2 Sketches 4 You #32

Hi there, happy Saturday! I have new card for you, this time based on this sketch by Laura Davis of 2 Sketches 4 You. It's a birthday card for one of my bosses at work who turned 60.

For masculine cards, I like to keep it fairly simple and Laura's sketch made it easy for me to work with. You can't see it in the picture but the background branches are heat embossed with clear embossing powder to add just a touch of elegance to the rustic look. Do you think it's okay for the given occassion?

Supplies
Stamps: PTI Beyond Basic Borders
Ink: Versamark, PTI Vintage Tea Die Duo
Paper: Basic Grey Offbeat, PTI kraft and cream cardstock, Dani Peuss dark brown
Other: MM Slice (Noteworthy), Spellbinders classic circles, hemp twine

Head in Clouds

What's that with pressure? There are times, I think I have my best ideas when there are gazillions of other things to do. And there are other times (now), when the to-do lists grow more and longer; when everything is feels just to much to handle and even fun things, like doing a card, feel like burdens. In this very situation, I thought I'd better give my mojo a boost by using Dawn's beautiful color swatch for Raspberry Suite Challenge #14. Very strong but girly colors, perfect for my office "room mate" Rosaria's birthday. Here's the result:

As you *may* notice, my head rested in clouds during the crafting process: I added some ribbon and flower stems in Ripe Avocado when green was no part of the challenge...

I know that if she likes it, I'll be a happy girl but though... blech ;-) Anyways, have a good weekend!
